Constable
Pond
Constable Pond is a long, fairly narrow lake in the Pigeon Lake Wilderness.
This photo was taken on April 26, 1998, on a 16-mile hike from Big Moose Lake to Raquette Lake. The first few miles of the hike
were along Constable Creek, the outlet to Constable Pond. I have been to
this lake several times, and it is delightful. Despite the fact that it is
only a few miles from a road, the lake, and actually the entire Big Moose -
West Mt trail is very lightly used. Past Pigeon Lake, for which the Pigeon
Lake Wilderness Area is named, the West Mt. trail is very overgrown. For
this reason I do not recommend this hike for the inexperienced hiker.
